"What is a Blog?"
So the answer is simple
"The blog is a discussion or informational website consisting of discrete, often informal diary-style text entries(posts). Posts are typically displayed in reverse chronological order so that the most recent post appears first, at the top of the page."
(Wikipedia)
Now you have got the answer to the first question then the second question would be
Who is a blogger?
"Simple answer is a person working on a blog is a blogger".
There are many platforms where you can make your blog some are free but others are paid.
We would talk about the two which are mostly used in Pakistan.
One is "Blogger" and the other is "Word Press" (either .com or .org).
Here we would talk about the free version of WordPress.
Blogger
Blogger is a free platform developed in 1999 and then bought by Google in 2003. It is the best option recommended for beginners. This is the best option in the market to start with. As anything has benefits as well as side effects it also has its own pros and cons
Pros
1) Blogger is a simple blogging platform where you can create a blog by just signing in with your Google account. You can just go to www.blogger.com, sign in with your Google account, and click on the "Create New Blog" option. Next, you choose your name, blog address, and theme.
Once you have done this you will have the option to change the theme or upload your favorite one you want. Then you can configure the blog settings, edit your layout, and start writing your posts.
2) can be monetized with Google Adsense.
3)Has a simple interface that everyone can use.
4)You can upload the template of your choice from the ones that are available in the market.
5) Don't worry about blog security and hosting or domain etc, as it is hosted on Google servers
Cons
1) It has some restrictions as you can be blocked without any warning.
2) First you will get a domain "name.blogspot.com" than you can buy a domain and integrate it with your blog
3)There is limited support available in Blogger. Your choice is very limited.
4) The future of Blogger depends on Google. Google has to get rid of popular services such as Google Adsense for feed and Feed burner. They can shut down Blogger any time they want.
5) Moving your site from Blogger to a different platform is quite a difficult task. Although Blogger allows you to export your content it will take time and effort.
WordPress.com

There are two options for bloggers on WordPress one is the free version and the other one is somehow paid as you need your own hosting and domain to work on it. You can move your site any time you want from WordPress.com to WordPress.org.
Difference
WordPress.com and WordPress.org, are two different platforms. Often beginners confuse WordPress.com with WordPress.org, which leads them to choose the wrong platform.
WordPress.com gives you the benefit as you will have the hosting and domain provided you by WordPress but it has restrictions as you have only 3 to 4 options of templates. You cant monetize it and many more.
We would discuss the difference between Wordpress.com and Wordpress.org in the next article.
Pros
1) It is hosted on WordPress servers. It's free up 3GB of space. If you want more space than there are different packages you can opt for one of them.
2) Free Domain name.
3) No worries about security and maintenance
4) You don't need to worry about backups. WordPress will take care of them for you.
Cons.
1) WordPress places ads on free websites. Your reader sees those ads, and you don't make money from it.
2) You are not allowed to put ads through Google Adsense. If you drive high traffic then you can apply for their monetization program call Adwords.
3) You can't upload Plugins. Free plan users get built-in jetpack features pre-activated. VIP program lets you install plugins but that starts at 5000$.
4) There are only 3 to 4 themes available for the free version.
Now it's up to you which platform you choose.
